Multiple locations for Facebook pages has always been answered with different opinions from “You have to spend $20,000 per month to get access” to “It’s just not possible”. In this post, we’ll go through step by step how to:
- Add all of your locations into Facebook
- Manage posts between them all
- And even touch base on how to post differently to each page!
There are a few requirements we have noticed. It seems if a page doesn’t have 200 likes already, it’s not available for multiple locations.
So, let’s get started.
You’ll want to make sure you are an admin on the page that you want to add multiple locations too. This page will become your “Brand” page. Locations will be underneath the brand page.
I know what you are thinking now, crap, now I’m going to have to post to all these pages, right? Nope. There’s a neat checkbox that allows you to direct all of your posts that go to the main page to show up on your location pages as well.
Now, read through this all before getting started, but we’ll start with the “Secret Link”. No, it’s not really that secret, but it’s actually kind of difficult to find. 🙂
Step 1 – Login to Facebook
Step 2 – Open this link:
You’ll see a screen like this:
Step 2 – Wait a Few Minutes
Once you complete that form, wait about 20 minutes. It’s pretty quick, but you’ll get a notification (email) from Facebook that you are approved for multiple locations.
Step 3 – Log back into Facebook
…go to your settings tab (make sure you are acting as the page). Voila – a new tab for locations exists.
Step 4 – Locations Tab
Click the locations tab and you’ll get a new window that looks kinda scary, but you’re in the right place. You’ll have to think about this one now – which direction you want to take. You have two options here – you can migrate the current page to one of your new locations. This will keep checkins, ratings and reviews on the new page – which will now be one of your locations.
You can remove the address which removes the checkins, ratings and reviews. (Not really sure why you’d want to do this though??)
Step 5 – Let’s add the first location.
Assign it a store number in the first block. This just has to be a whole number – doesn’t matter what you put in there, we start at 001 and then 002 and so forth. The rest will look familiar. Fill everything in with the information for the first location.
Sometimes it stalls here for a few minutes, but you’ll get a confirmation and probably just see the yellow box again from above. No need to worry. Give it about 30 seconds. If nothing happens, go back to your page settings and choose locations again (See the second image above if you forget how to get there – Step 3).
Now, let’s add the next location.
Step 6 – Add Another Location
Click the “Add A Location” tab at the top of this screen.
Then we’ll go through the same thing we did in Step 5 to add the second location.
Now notice at the bottom of this screen – there are options on how to manage your posts and where to show the locations. You’ll have to choose which one is best for you. Pay particular attention to the one at the bottom. Here we generally post to the main page and that feeds (duplicates to the location pages). An exception here would be a special or event at a specific location. See, we can generate more targeted and relevant messaging for specific audiences.
Just keep repeating until you have all of your locations in there. Now people can check in at the right places and leave reviews for the correct locations.
Publish your posts as usual and they’ll go to your main “Brand” page and your location pages all together. If you’re linked up with something like HubSpot or HootSuite you should just see your brand (Main) page.
Hoping this helped many of you out there looking for a way to add multiple locations into Facebook.
